Historical Paragon

From the Sanskrit word for sharpening stone, the word paragon means a model of excellence, and we aim to embody this definition in everything we do. The company name originates from my great-grandfather's business, which began making Paragon Propellers in 1910. His firm supplied 70% of the allied forces' propellers during WWI.

A model of excellence

Founded in 1993, Paragon Space Development Corporation is a woman-owned small business and full-service aerospace engineering and technology development firm. We are a major supplier of Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) and subsystem design for the aerospace industry. We are also expert in thermal control both for spacecraft on orbit and during re-entry, and for hyper-velocity aircraft. Visit our Core Competencies page for details.

Paragon's vision is to be the world leader in thermal control and life support in extreme environments. No other small business has as much human-rated space vehicle design experience as Paragon. We have worked with Lockheed Martin on all of its crewed spacecraft design programs in recent years, including the Crew Exploration Vehicle. We are also emerging as a leading ECLSS and thermal control provider for the burgeoning commercial space-flight market.

In the thermal arena, we provide thermal and structural modeling and design for the Lockheed Martin Skunkworks’ FALCON Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle (Skunkworks named Paragon its Small Business Supplier Of The Year in 2004). We also have several SBIR phase I and II contracts for ECLSS and thermal technology development. Visit our Programs page for details of these and other projects.
